Civil Partnerships Northern Ireland

Civil Partnerships are restricted by the legal framework of the Civil Partnership Act which came into force in Northern Ireland in December 2005. If, however, you don't want to have a ‘one size fits all‘ type of ceremony, then you need to talk to an Independent Celebrant. This will allow you to have a Ceremony which is both personal and unique - and which can be held at the time and place of your choice.

Creating Your Ceremony

I will work with you to create your individual civil partnership ceremony. At our first meeting I will give you a questionnaire which you will complete in your own time. From this we will create a totally personal script for your ceremony. This script can, of course, include poems or readings and will incorporate your choice of music.

Religious content can be included if you wish, or the ceremony can be completely non-religious. If you want to include symbolic elements, we can discuss this at our meeting. I can provide information about the simple legal requirements for civil partnerships.

Together we can create a Ceremony which you, your family and friends will always remember.
